Lough Beg Bird ReserveCheck List
Because all the sightings at Lough Beg since 1976 have been entered onto the British Trush for Ornithology’ Birdtrack database, we can generate a Check List of the 80 most frequently recorded birds at Lough Beg. This is a good aid to have with you on a visit, as it allows you record numbers of the most likely species to be seen on the reserve.
Note:- the Top 80 are the most frequently recorded, but not necessarily the 80 most frequently seen! Not many birders are troubled to record Blackbird, Robin, Dunnock, etc. However, as more birders record the common species, as well as the more unusual, the checklist will become more representative
